The Whole Package: Lay sandwich halves on a plate. Smear both sides with a condiment sauce. Layer with onions, drizzle fig or aged red balsamic vinegar, and top with greens. On one side, alternate layers of meat, condiment sauce, cheese, and greens. Use toothpicks to hold sandwich together. Place the other side of the bread on top of the meat. Insert a toothpick to hold sandwich together. Decorate with the top toothpick with kalamata or green olives. Don’t forget to watch out for the toothpicks.
