It was truly an eventful week leading to the busiest busy day of them all. Perhaps, I overextend myself, but who can decline an invitation to Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate and Wine tasting? However, on the day of the event, another important project was due at 6:00 p.m. sharp. The day was double-booked, but the project was completed and delivered at 5:45 p.m. The tasting started at 6:00 p.m. For a brief moment, I considered not showing up, but after a busy week, I knew this was a treat that should not be missed.
Embarrassingly arriving late at the wine and chocolate tasting after 6:30 p.m., I missed creating a unique tiramisu using any of Green & Black’s chocolate flavors with the other invited food bloggers. The hosts graciously invited me to make my own tiramisu after everyone created their special recipe, but I knew it’s better to continue on with the future. Why try to redo the past? Towards the end of the event, our host gave us a generous gift bag of goodies, including their new book, Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate’s The Ultimate Recipe Book. Reading the book, I noticed a similar quick tiramisu recipe, for it was quickly placed on my menu of desserts.
The original plan was to follow the cookbook’s quick tiramisu recipe. When I read the ingredients–cream, eggs, mascarpone, chocolate and so forth–I was inspired to make Mascarpone Ice Cream. With such a creamy flavor, Green & Black’s Organic Espresso Chocolate was the obvious and inspired pairing. This recipe is my ultimate and simplified tiramisu version.
As predicted, the ice cream was rich with specks of Espresso Chocolate shavings in each bite. I love how random events inspire recipes. Being late should never be rewarded with such an indulgent treat.
