Lemon Basil Sorbet by MyLifeRunsOnFood.com

My rose tinted glasses are tinted with reality considering the political, environmental and lifestyle chaos of 2016 into 2017. Imani is a challenge. But, for the sake of love, we have to believe that good change is going to come. It’s difficult to believe, since people’s true feelings have showed within the last two to three years. We didn’t like what we saw or heard. But, the hatred — that we knew was always there — is now in the open. And, that’s a good start.

Philly Root Beer & Pretzel Float by Nicole Taylor

Looking to escape your corner of the world, for a historic city whose bells toll the sound of freedom? Philadelphia is not just famous for the Liberty Bell and being America’s first capital. It’s also an historic culinary bastion for African-American chefs becoming successful entrepreneurs. Very Vanilla Cherry Pistachio and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
In celebration of July being Ice Cream month, Nielson Massey delivered their Madagascar Pure Vanilla Extract to my doorstep. The representative shared a delicious coconut milk based ice cream, too. Strawberry Lavender Sorbet

After weeks of resting well and looking at the four corners of my apartment, a good friend suggested we drive two hours to Lavender by the Bay in East Marion, New York. We picked a weekday, because the crowds would’ve been too stressful for me (I’m not in the condition to stand in line). We also took a chance, because the weather stations predicted t-storms starting around 1 pm. We started our trip at 7:30 am, so we can return to the city before the heavy rains.  Read more

Mascarpone Ice Cream with Espresso Chocolate Shavings

It was truly an eventful week leading to the busiest busy day of them all. Perhaps, I overextend myself, but who can decline an invitation to Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate and Wine tasting? However, on the day of the event, another important project was due at 6:00 p.m. sharp. The day was double-booked, but the project was completed and delivered at 5:45 p.m. The tasting started at 6:00 p.m. For a brief moment, I considered not showing up, but after a busy week, I knew this was a treat that should not be missed.
