It’s that time of year when everyone or someone is not quite feeling well with colds, sore throats, body aches and headaches. As much as we try to avoid becoming ill, eventually the cold catches up to most of us at least once per year, and it’s usually when we’re most stressed. Medications temporarily offer relief from annoying dry coughs, nasal drippings, and pounding headaches; vitamins promise over night cures; and a wise visit to a doctor for practical treatment are one of the many ways to seek relief from minor colds. Red beans and Rice isn’t my favorite dish in the world. My indifference to the stew is why it took some time to develop it. When I originally started making it, I tried adding more spices such as ginger, cinnamon and so forth. The boyfriend and I agree on the older results: Keep trying (however, I later discovered he’s not partial to cinnamon flavors). Jordan, a Sonoma winery, strives to produce wines that have the elegance, nuance, and balance of Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon blends. Certainly, they have succeeded in making Cabernets with finesse and balance. As we tasted through 7 different vintages, I found the most prominent note that ties all the vintages together is blueberry. It is a distinctive note, among others, in the flavor profile of each of the vintages we tasted. Read more
